Sharon E. Standridge

Sharon E. Standridge age 65 passed away peacefully on 6/17/2014 in Albuquerque, NM. Sharon is survived by her husband of 45 years of marriage, David A. Standridge Sr. and two sons, Jeremy Standridge and David A. Standridge Jr., a daughter in love, Debbie Standridge, and two grandchildren, Isaac Standridge and Rylee Standridge. Trained professionally as a nurse, her true passion was being a wife and a mother. Sharon was preceded in death by her sister Marella Harsh Goode. She has two surviving siblings: Rev. Terry L. Goode and his wife Mary Ann Goode of Peoria, Illinois and Beverly Wells and her husband Rev. Delbert Wells of Goodyear, Arizona. Sharon was born in Globe Arizona in 1948. Her parents were Rev. R.L Goode and Fern Goode. She moved to Illinois in 1950 where she spent most of her life in Peoria, Illinois. Sharon graduated from Manuel High School in 1966. She was trained professionally as a nurse and worked as a nurse for many years. She married David A. Standridge Sr. on December 28, 1968. David was in the United States Army. He served for three years. During those three years, Sharon accompanied David and traveled from Fairbanks, Alaska to Homestead, Florida. While in Florida, Sharon gave birth to her first son, David A. Standridge Jr. in 1971. David, Sharon and David Jr. returned to Illinois in 1971. She continued to work as a nurse and raised a family. Sharon and David Sr. had their second child in 1974, Jeremy Standridge. Sharon was actively involved in her church in Peoria, Illinois--Christian Assembly Church. This church was founded by and pastored by Sharon's father, Rev. R.L. Goode. David and Sharon volunteered extensively at Christian Assembly as Sunday School Teacher, VBS teacher, maintenance workers, among other activities. In 1986 David and Sharon relocated their family to Albuquerque, NM. Shortly after relocating to New Mexico, Sharon was involved in a serious accident that left her paralyzed from the chest down. Sharon's life was drastically changed after this event. Thereafter, she and David were inseparable and clung to each other and found strength in their relationship. Upon arriving in New Mexico, Sharon became active at Believers Center of Albuquerque. She served as a door greeter, home care network leader and lead numerous individuals in one on one bible studies. She was known for her generous spirit. Despite the circumstances she lived with, she was always ready with positive encouragement for others. She touched many people's lives. While Sharon may never have been a newsmaker, she was loved by many, and tremendously impacted others on a day to day basis. Her death was unexpected, but her life was rich, despite the outward circumstances. She struggled in life, but not in death. Sharon's life is marked by many who love her and those loved by her. Sharon lived fully. She loved butterflies. Later in life she learned to paint. She wrote poetry. She was always full of love and compassion. She exhibited the true love of Christ. She and David are active members of the Believers Center of Albuquerque. She loved her church and church family. She was a history buff, particularly of the American Revolution. Sharon will be missed but we look forward to our reunion with her in heaven.
