Pauline A. Barker

Pauline A. Barker, born April 8, 1947, passed September 4, 2014. Rosary will be Monday, September 8, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. with Mass following at 2:00 p.m. at St Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 500 W High St, Grants, NM 87020. Interment will follow at Grants Memorial Park Cemetery, Grants, NM. Pauline worked for the Grants Cibola County Schools for 42 years. She started out as a cook at Bluewater Elementary School. Working her way up she retired as the Food Nutrition Coordinator. Her life was always making sure the little munchkins of the community had food to eat. She always worried that the breakfast and lunch they got from school, were all they got. She was always concerned of what the children had to eat at night and on the weekends when they weren’t at school. If she could have taken everyone home to her house to eat, she would have. She always cooked, like it was a holiday. Pauline’s life was her family. Each and every one of them meant something special to her. In her eyes there was nothing like having all the family together. She is survived by her son, Paul Barker, of Grants; daughters, Carree and husband, Robert Gonzales, of San Antonio, NM, Deanna and husband, Leroy Chavez, of Milan, and Barbie Barker, of Milan; 11 grandchildren, Paul Barker II, and companion, Monica Lopez, John Paul Gallegos, and companion, Jenifer Neito, Amanda, and husband, Samuel Gonzales, Camye Barker, and companion, Troy McDowell, Haylee, and husband Josh Chavez, Lee Chavez, Justen Barker, Tori Barker, Jared Barker, Kalyi Barker, and Lxnyq Barker; 5 ½ Great grandchildren, Julian Barker, Annalycia Barker, Tomie Barker, Jazlynn Chavez, Mia Gonzales, Joshua Chavez, and one more baby girl on the way; her brother, Fred Lackey, and wife Marcie; her sister, Charolette Monette, and husband Charles; and many nephews, nieces, cousins; and friends. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Paul and Pauline Platter. Pallbearers are Paul Barker II, John Paul Galegos, Leroy Chavez, Lee Chavez, Samuel Gonzales, Justen Barker, Jared Barker, Julian Barker, and David Marsing.
