Carole Tafoya

Tafoya, Carole Carole Tafoya, beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend, passed from our lives on Monday, July 20, 2015. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, Laurence T. Tafoya. She was his love, his life, his world. She is also survived by her sister, Debbie Sant, husband, Bret and three nephews, Brian, Jayson and JJ; uncle, Paul Nathan Baca and nephew, Ryan Tafoya and wife, Gina; brothers-in-law, Ronald Tafoya, wife, Hoa, and Ted Tafoya. Carole is preceded in death by her parents, Rex E. and Elizabeth A. Lewis; her sister, Sharon Lewis; and brother-in-law, Anthony Tafoya. Carole was born on December 30, 1944. Carole was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque; she attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Valley High School. After graduating from UNM, she attended the University of Hawaii for Post Graduate work. Carole taught Spanish at Taft Middle School for 37 years. She was an excellent teacher who turned out exceptional Spanish students. She was praised by High School teachers as to how well her students were taught and were well prepared. Carole also sold Real Estate. Carole loved to travel all over the world, among those ports of call; Holland, England, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Mexico and Canada. Carole collected art and was an avid reader. She was outgoing and was loved by all she knew. She will be greatly missed. Carole had many complex medical issues and the family would like to thank all those that worked endlessly to bring her back to health including: the staff at Presbyterian hospital, Kaseman Skilled Nursing, AMG Specialty Hospital, the Renal Staff, especially Dr. Gustavo Espino, Dr. Dayo at the UNMH Cancer Center and her Endocrinologist, Dr. Sawyer, in Santa Fe. Gratitude also goes to all the staff at Gentiva Hospice for ensuring a dignified and peaceful passing. Please be an organ donor. The rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 30, 2015, 7:00 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave NW.
