Carmoline Annicelli Grady

GRADY, CARMOLINE A. Carmoline Annicelli Grady, 79, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, surrounded by her loving husband, William "Bing" Grady and her family and friends. Carmoline was born on May 20, 1935 in Pennslyvania to Valence and Salvatore Annicelli, joining her then 10 year old sister, Frances. Salvatore was tubercular, which brought the family to New Mexico in search of a sanatorium; he succumbed to TB when Carmoline was 5. After her husband’s death, Valence supported her two young daughters by taking in laundry. The family was devout Catholic, and the sisters attended St. Vincent’s Academy for girls in downtown Albuquerque. When Carmoline was 10, Frances married Lee Keeler and the newlyweds took in Valence and Carmoline. Frances and Lee became surrogate parents to Carmoline; they helped raise her. In 1953, Carmoline went to work at Albuquerque National Bank where she met her husband to be, Bing Grady. Carmoline and Bing played prominent roles in many aspects of Albuquerque life during their 60 year marriage and Bing’s 40 year career at the bank. Carmoline left the bank after 14 years, at the age of 30, to become a student at UNM, where she earned a BFA in Voice Performance. Throughout her life, Carmoline loved music. She was a gifted singer. For many years she had a performing career with Albuquerque Civic Light Opera, and with a vocal ensemble known as “The Company”. She also taught voice at UNM and then privately in her own home. Carmoline began a career with Mary Kay cosmetics in 1969. In 1973 she became a Sales Director, debuting her own unit. At its peak, the “Grady Bunch” numbered more than 200 women and produced over $550,000 annually. She drove the coveted pink Cadillac for over 30 years. Carmoline achieved the rank of Lady Grand Cross of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and was devoted to the continued presence of the Christian faith in Jerusalem. Carmoline was a devoted wife and sister, a woman of devout faith, a true friend to many, and a mentor to countless others. Carmoline was truly beautiful inside and out. She will be greatly missed. Carmoline is survived by her husband, Bing; her sister, Frances Keeler; and her dear friend of many years, Kellie Green. A rosary will be recited on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas Rd NE, 87106. Mass will follow at 1:30 p.m. The Most Rev. Michael J. Sheehan, Archbishop of Santa Fe will preside. Burial will take place on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
