Audrey V. Coursey

Audrey V. Coursey age 92 was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday January 17, 2015 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her daughter, Glendora “Glennie” Brown and husband, James; her granddaughters, Loni Farzad and husband Anthony, and Leanne Sloan and husband Lance; 7 Great Grandchildren, Jeremy Sloan and wife Sarah, Staci Narducci and husband, August, Amanda Torres and husband Chris, Shauna Durkin and Steve Garcia, Katie Hibbard and husband Danny, Conner Durkin, and Lili Farzad; 11 Great-Great grandchildren, Evelyn and Lucca Narducci, Benjamin, Abraham, Judah and Grace Sloan, Isaiah and Hannah Torres, Haley Hibbard, Michael Rosley, Natty Garcia, and one on the way; brothers, Bill Isaacs and wife, Juanda and Vernon Isaacs and wife, Pat; and sisters, La Vada Archer, and Geneva “Neva” Rodgers. Audrey was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Oron “Ode” Joseph Coursey; her son Michael Joseph Coursey; and eight brothers and sisters. She was born in 1922 to Jesse and Ida Isaacs in Konawa, Oklahoma, the fifth from the oldest of 13 children. Audrey was born and raised on “the farm” which is a major part of our heritage. Along with her brothers and sisters, music was at the heart of everything. Many, many wonderful days and nights the instruments and voices of the family and their beautiful music could be heard around the bend, and still can be to this day. Audrey (Nana) was raised to love Jesus, have a hard work ethic, and a servant’s heart. Anyone that has ever known her well or met her for the first time would tell you that Jesus was first and foremost in her life and she was a witness to more people than we could ever know. She married Oron Joe Coursey in April of 1941 and lived in Konawa and Seminole, Oklahoma until 1953 when they moved to Albuquerque so Oron could manage Senator Anderson's ranch. Audrey retired from Sears as an interior decorator with many awards and accomplishments. Ode and Audrey (Nana and Papa) were dedicated members of the Southern Baptist Church where they dedicated their lives to serve the Lord in so many ways. Audrey taught Sunday school classes and sang in the choir and served in many different areas of the church. She taught her family how to love, serve, and be strong, not only by her words but through her actions. Her home always had an open door to anyone. Audrey had hardships throughout her life that would have brought most to despair, she lost her son Mike when he was just 21 years old, and yet she continued to love and serve without complaint. She survived breast cancer and thanked the Lord, and she cared for her husband, Ode (Papa), when he was very ill with an undying love and devotion, knowing that she could do all things through Christ who strengthened her. She loved her family and had more energy than all of us put together! Audrey only had one setting and that was “fast”. Whether she was playing basketball with the kids, bowling, or showing us how to dance a jig, she did it with all of her heart. She taught her family the meaning of fun, dedication, and love. Audrey was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Friends may visit FRENCH - Lomas on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at FRENCH - Lomas, 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Sandia Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Sloan, Conner Durkin, Lance Sloan, James Brown, George Thomas, and Anthony Farzad.
