Judith P. Hawbaker

Judith P. Hawbaker, age 76, of Albuquerque, NM peacefully passed away on July 20, 2015. Judith, the daughter of Donna and Frank Clarich, was born on November 29, 1938 in Chicago, IL. Judith was educated in Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa. She moved to Albuquerque in 1962. Judith retired from Sandia National Laboratories after 33 years. Following her retirement, she spent much of her time volunteering: leading walking tours of Old Town Albuquerque; as a docent at Albuquerque Museum of Art and History; and volunteering at Assistance League of Albuquerque’s Thrift Shop, the Blue Portal and, serving as President of Assistance League of Albuquerque from 2007 to 2008. Judith also enjoyed spending time with her friends; playing dominoes, hosting birthday brunches and hosting Oscar parties. Judith was a member of Hoffmantown Church. Judith is survived by two daughters, Julia (Crooks) and her husband Steve Savage of Iowa, and Deborah (Crooks) and her husband Dr. Eric Potthoff of Mason City, Iowa; four grandchildren, Justin and wife Becky, Jessica and husband Jason, Heidi Potthoff of Chicago, IL and Thomas Potthoff of Iowa City, IA; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Susan Brannon of Houston, TX; one niece; two nephews; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donna and Frank Clarich; her infant son, Ronald Crooks; and one nephew, Peter Brannon. In accordance with Judith’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be neither a memorial service nor a funeral service. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Julia Savage and Deborah Potthoff would like to thank Carmen and Curtis Hudson of Touched by a White Dove Assisted Living and Legacy Hospice for the kind and loving care they administered to our mother. We would also like to thank all of our mother’s friends for faithfully visiting her and praying for her through this very challenging time.
